Marking Criteria - Dissertation (HST6560) The dissertation is an original piece of independent historical research. It will have an identifiable primary source base and will be assessed in terms of research, argument, contextualisation and presentation. Examiners will consider all of these areas when they mark the dissertation.
The marking criteria outlined above are used when assessing the History MA dissertation. Dissertations, like all written assessed work in the department, are judged on the following criteria: language, structure, argument, coverage, relevance, research, and presentation.
You are required to write a dissertation on an insurance or reinsurance-related topic of relevance to the insurance market and of interest to you. The dissertation must be a minimum of 10,000 words in length and not more than 11,000 words.
